RANKING OF REPORTS

Level 1

No positive confirmation of an accident at this stage and by definition the details in the report will be brief. A report at this level is really only an acknowledgement that an accident may have occurred.

Level 2

An accident is confirmed but few details are available. Only known and accurate information will be in the report.

Level 3

An accident is confirmed and the information in the report is believed to be accurate and has come from either an eye witness or rescue authorities.

Level 4

An accident is confirmed but for legal reasons only limited information can be posted on the site at this stage.

Level 5

Full facts of an accident which in some cases may only happen after a coronial inquest. Where possible the details of the coronial report will be included.

ACCIDENT LISTS

VIEWING THE REPORTS
The AAR accident lists live on the AAR Google Group website.
If you sign up as a member of the AAR Google Group you will receive emails of each new report as they are entered to the AAR site.
Accident reports can be viewed in approximate chronological order as they appear or you can search for a report by entering the date or content words. Be aware that if a report is updated or posted some time after an accident takes place it will move to the top of the list so the order will not be strictly chronological.
DOWNLOAD COMPLETE REPORT ARCHIVES
You can download a PDF document of all the accident reports from the FILES section of the AAR Google Group (you don't need to be a member to do so).
WHAT THE AAR DOES NOT DO
While the AAR strives to record all notable accidents it is not a complete list of accidents for the period it covers. The main reason for the site's existence is to provide a feedback mechanism so that readers can gain an insight into the sorts of things that cause accidents. To record every accident would be beyond the resources of the AAR.
AAR NOW NATIONAL
Before April 2006 the accident lists only covered accidents in the Blue Mountains, NSW. From April 2006 accident report coverage is national.
